Description

Stan Goldberg and Henry Scarpelli Date With Debbi #13 Cover Original Art (DC Comics, 1971). DC's approach to teenage humor had evolved from Leave It to Binky-style slapstick in the 1940s and '50s to more of an Archie-like reorientation during the 1960s and '70s. The presence of Archie (and Marvel-teen) alumnus Goldberg lent momentum to DC's newer approach. This unusual two-panel composition makes a whiplash transition from set-up to punchline, with almost a 3-D effect in the flying platters. The ink-on-Bristol artwork measures 10" x 15" and is in Excellent condition, with some light glue stains in the right margin. One missing dialogue balloon (center) and some conspicuous paste-up seams. Very Good condition.
