The Adventures of Superman Collecting Limited Hardcover Slipcase Edition #1838/2000 (Russ Cochran, 1988). A hardbound, slipcase (embossed with red and gold foil), deluxe, 50th anniversary limited edition, published by Russ Cochran. This is #1838 (numbered by hand) of 2,500 copies and contains 215 exhaustively illustrated pages of Superman related toys, cereal premiums, records, lunch boxes, and more from the 1940's to the 1980's. The first book ever to be published to focus entirely and exclusively on the history, graphics, rarity and value of Superman art and collectibles. Collectors from all over the country contributed their knowledge to the research of this project and most importantly (many that are illustrated and described are one-of-a-kind items, and are unobtainable elsewhere), they allowed fantastic pieces from their personal collections to be photographed for this tome. Over 500 key Superman items, from original art, rare books, early advertisements, antique toys, games and premiums, etc., were all photographed especially for this limited collector's edition. The Adventures of Superman Collecting is a treasure trove as well as a celebration of Superman's first fifty years. The book measures 9.5" x 12.5". In Excellent condition with very minor shelf wear and soiling. Commonly retails in the antiquarian book market for $150 and up.Auction Info
