Description

Bob Montana Archie Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-2-58 (King Features Syndicate, 1958). Many successors have drawn and dramatized Archie -- right up to the present day's Riverdale teleseries -- but nobody except Montana could relate to the teen-comedy characters on a personal level. He had based them, after all, on friends from his high-school days. This splendid episode finds goofball Jughead Jones missing, and hiding where no one would think to look for him. Inscribed to chess champion and comics enthusiast Manfred Zitzman. Ink and Zipatone shading (two textures) over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 18" x 5.5". Pronounced adhesive staining; otherwise in Very Good condition.
