Description

Alex Kotzky Apartment 3-G Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 2 (Publishers Newspaper Syndicate, 1965). Matched (but not consecutive) episodes from a satirical story-arc find arts patron Beth Howard putting up with an eccentric painter for the sake of arranging a gallery show. The artist is a fine caricature of bohemian pretensions -- as eager to find an audience as he is averse to critics and social-register attention. Kotzky's artistry combines caricature with dramatic realism to stunning effect. The dates are 6-19-65 and 7-6-65. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 18.5" x 5.5". Light toning and natural handling wear. Excellent condition.
