Description

Edd Cartier The Case of the Hit and Run Illustration Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1949) The newspaper syndicates once branched out to prose fiction, the better to give the hard-boiled pulp magazines a run for their money. Here is a choice example, designed to illustrate Philip Ketchum's "The Case of the Hit and Run." The reverse bears a date of 1-39-49, although actual run-dates varied among the daily newspapers. The caption reads: "She started to type a farewell note, the gas got her before she finished it." Created in ink over graphite on illustration board, Image area, 6.75" x 7". Toned, with a bit of water-damage rippling in the lower margin. Very Good condition.
