Description
T. E. Powers Charley and George Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-13-07 (W. R. Hearst, 1907). Perpetual rivals George and Charley vie for the attention of Miss Tootsie in this early strip (with Charley getting the upper hand this time out). T. E. Powers is credited with being the first American to draw a full color newspaper strip, and was considered one of publisher William Hearst's favorites. This piece is partially hand-colored with watercolors; it's in ink and graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 16.75" x 10.25".
