Description

(Frazetta) self-portrait #2. (1954) Accomplished in pencil, pen and ink on 8 x 9 in. illustration board. Frank's earliest portrait given to Al Williamson in a trade in the early 50s. Drawn during the time period of the Famous Funnies covers. Top shelf inking. Notice that Frank depicts himself with a baseball at his feet, not an artist's brush. That was his priority in those days...baseball and girls, girls and baseball. Al kept this piece for twenty years, then sold it to a dealer. It wound up in my collection where I have treasured it for years.
