Description

Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Concept Drawing with Courvoisier Stamp (Walt Disney, 1940). Jiminy peeks in the door of evil puppet master Stromboli's cart in search of Pinocchio in the scene at the 44:59 mark of Disney Studio's second feature film. This is an original story concept drawing from the early stages in the development of this classic Disney feature. The 7" x 6" image is rendered in Conté' crayon and pastel with a 1" tall Jiminy. The art is on a 12 field 5 peghole sheet of paper with an array of production notes, numbers and a "return to character model dept." stamp in the lower left. Interestingly the art also bears a Courvoisier Galleries stamp indicating that the piece was sold through their Disney art program at one time. Courvoisier sold Disney film cels from the late '30s to mid '40s, but only rarely sold drawings. This piece has a definite Joe Grant feel to it. The paper shows handling, smudges and tape residue in the upper corners. Condition is Good.
