Description

The Zoot Cat Tom and Jerry - Tom Cat Animation Drawing (MGM, 1944). Tom has slicked himself up and curled his whiskers to impress Toots, in this rare original 12 field 3-peghole animation drawing. The Zoot Cat was the 13th Tom and Jerry short, released to theaters on 2/26/1944. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera directed this short, ribbing the short-lived "zoot suit" craze. In this scene, Tom is on the front porch with flowers for his love interest, only to be slapped silly by a wooden plank! You can find this scene in online viewings at the 1:28 mark. Art is in graphite over red pencil, with a figure size of 5". The number 191 is written in the lower right corner. (PLEASE NOTE - This drawing has previously been identified as Butch, Tom's rival.) There is a rip in the top edge that extends about 2.75", missing the image. Good condition.
