Description
Disneyland - Carnation Ice Cream Parlor and Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant Menu, Pamphlet, Placemat, Tray, and Photographs, Group of 12 (Walt Disney, c. 1959-1996). Here's a wonderful assortment of items celebrating two of the opening-day restaurants at Disneyland: the Carnation Ice Cream Parlor and the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant. Carnation Ice Cream Parlor had the longer run of the two, lasting from 1955 until 1997. The restaurant survived in a different form as the Carnation Café, but the establishment is no longer sponsored by Carnation. The Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant could be found in Fantasyland from 1955 until 1982 (Although the tuna company dropped its sponsorship in 1969). From Carnation Ice Cream Parlor, we have three early souvenir menus: one from 1956 and two from 1962. Also included are two more modern items: a 1996 Child's Menu from the restaurant, and a 5" x 7" tip tray from the 1990s. From the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant, we have a fold-out pamphlet with recipes from about 1956, as well as a placemat with a Tunaburger recipe from the 1950s. The pamphlet measures 9.75" x 6" when fully opened, and the placemat measures about 12.5" x 6.75". Also included are five vintage publicity photos of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant. The items vary in condition from Good to Very Good, with some handling and edge wear. The menus and pamphlet have some toning and minor scuffing.From the Rummell Collection.
