Description
Walt Disney World - Disney's Wide World of Sports Globe Trophy (Walt Disney, c. 1997-2010). This great piece comes from the Florida Walt Disney World Resort, from what is now known as the ESPN Wide World of Sports. From its opening in 1997 through 2010, the complex was known as Disney's Wide World of Sports. This piece is a trophy inspired by the huge globe-shaped sculpture found at the complex. The piece may be a prototype, as it has no markings for a particular competition or recipient. The trophy is made of cast resin, hand-painted silver to look like metal. The underside of the painted wooden base has a layer of felt and a Disney copyright. The piece measures about 14.5" tall, with a base diameter of about 9". It is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including some dust, minor scuffing, and a crack in the resin at the base of the globe's stand.From the Rummell Collection.
