Description

Mickey Mouse Mousecar Award (Walt Disney, 1948). The coveted Mousecar award, the Disney Studio equivalent of the Academy Awards' "Oscar," is an in-house trophy given to employees for exceptional service to the company and the community at-large. Considered even more rare than its sister award, the Duckster, the Mousecar is a prized symbol of Disney company excellence. This particular award has a Bakelite base, making it a rare piece from the first generation of these prestigious awards. It was presented to Ruth Lowenthal, an RKO executive based in New York. RKO Pictures was one of the Big Five studios of Hollywood's Golden Age, and the company distributed Disney films from 1937's Hawaiian Holiday through 1956's Hooked Bear. The overall award measures 9.5" tall with Mickey Mouse measuring approximately 6.5". These awards are treasured family heirlooms and rarely come up for sale. There are some small patches throughout where the bronze finish has rubbed off, but otherwise, this rare piece is in Very Good condition.
