Description

Sleeping Beauty Briar Rose with Bluebird Production Cel Setup (Walt Disney, 1959). This lovely hand-painted Disneyland Art Corner 2-cel production setup of Princess Aurora as Briar Rose and her bluebird friend were created in production of Walt Disney's 1959 Technirama animated feature and photographed for the film. Aurora, as Briar Rose, is sent into the woods to gather flowers by good fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather while they prepare for her surprise 16th birthday. She sings the opening notes of "I Wonder" (by George Bruns and Winston Hibler) while entering the forest to meet and catch this cute bluebird after it has tumbled from a limb, and then send it flying off.
The two cel paintings were set over a color print of a background from the film and placed in a 14" x 12" mat for sale at the Disneyland Art Corner shop, soon after the film was released. On the back is the original red-and-gold label that reads: "This is an original hand-painted celluloid drawing actually used in a Walt Disney Production / Released Exclusively by the Art Corner at Disneyland / Anaheim, California / Copyright Walt Disney Productions." Aurora's figure size is 5.25", mat opening is 9.75" x 8". Very Fine+ condition.
