Description

Dumbo Baby Dumbo and Mrs. Jumbo Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1941). On the cute scale, baby Dumbo is off the charts and this Disney feature has been a fan favorite for nearly 80 years. The enduring story of an "elephant who could fly" was so captivating to generation after generation that it was recently remade into a live-action/CGI film directed by Tim Burton. This is an adorable image of a concerned Mrs. Jumbo clutching her little boy after the other elephants make fun of his ears and it can be seen at the 11:02 mark. This hand-inked hand-painted production cel of Dumbo and mother has been lovingly preserved in its original Courvoisier setup. The cels have been trimmed to the image, laminated and placed over a custom painted circus tent background. The characters together measure 8" x 6" making this an especially large Courvoisier setup. The art comes with its Courvoisier Galleries paperwork which notes that only 10 cels of this series were ever made available for sale. It's an extraordinarily sweet and rare piece of production art from an early wartime era Disney film. There are a few minor separation spots in the gray paint of Dumbo and Mrs, Jumbo which is a condition typical of laminated cels of this age. The art is in a newer frame of 18" x 16.5" under glass with a mat opening of 10.5" x 8". Condition is Good and frame is sold as-is.
