Description
Dumbo Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1941). "Yes, him with those ears that only a mother could love. What's the matter with his ears? I don't see nothin' wrong with 'em. I think they're cute." This is an original Courvoisier cel setup, featuring one of the sweetest Dumbo cels we have seen. The image size is 5" x 4", placed on an original Courvoisier airbrushed background. The piece is in a 14.5" x 14" frame with a mat opening 7.5" x 7". WDP stamp is on the original Courvoisier mat indicating that this piece initially sold at the Courvoisier Gallery in San Francisco. In 1939 art dealer, Guthrie Courvoisier was looking for something fresh and obtainable he could represent in his Bay Area art gallery. Being of the same mind, Walt Disney gave Guthrie exclusive rights to market original Disney animation cels. This cel boasts a pair of the biggest blue eyes on a Disney animated character we have seen! The original Courvoisier certificate is included. Artwork has cracked and chipped paint on Dumbo and will require some restoration. Frame sold as-is. Artwork condition is Fair.Auction Info
