Description

Walt Disney's Treasury: 21 Best-Loved Stories Bongo Pages 90 and 91 Illustrations Original Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1953). Disney's 1947 compilation film Fun and Fancy Free combined two separate stories, with one featuring Mickey Mouse and friends ("Mickey and the Beanstalk"), while the other told the story of a talented circus bear who longed to discover what life was like in the woods, and escapes his cage while travelling by rail to the next town. While in the wild, he meets Lulubelle, a young female bear, and discovers the strange habits of other bears (including the brutish Lumpjaw). The story is retold in five pages of the Walt Disney's Treasury storybook, which features two half-page full-color illustrations of Bongo and Lulubelle, and of Bongo watching the other bears playfully slapping each other (their way of saying "I like you"). Here's the very charming original artwork for both pieces, with images measuring approximately 8.5" and 8" x 6.25" respectively. The art is painted in gouache on lightweight boards, with old glue residue on the backside. Color prints of the Treasury book's front cover and table of contents pages are included for reference. Overall condition is Very Good, with minor handling and edge wear.
