Description
Bambi Storybook Illustrations by Bob Grant Original Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1948). The Disney Studio's 1942 adaptation of the classic Felix Salten novel remains one of the studio's most beautiful films. The movie was the source of a number of great children's storybooks over the years. Here are two painted illustrations from one of those volumes, with artwork by Bob Grant, a Disney artist who specialized in comic strips featuring Pluto, Little Hiawatha, and Scamp. These painted illustrations both feature young Bambi; one includes his shy little friend Flower the Skunk (noted as page 14: image size approximately 5.5" x 7.25"), while the other includes Bambi's best buddy Thumper the Rabbit, and his future wife Faline (page 21; image size 6" x 7.5"). The art is delicately painted in gouache on heavy illustration board measuring 8.25" x 9.325" and 7.25" x 10". A color print of the published book's front cover is included. The artboards have old tape stains in the outer borders, not touching the images. Overall condition is Very Good, with handling wear.Auction Info
