Description

David Lloyd Wasteland #10 Story Page 3 Original Art (DC, 1988). Vertigo before Vertigo: Lloyd, acclaimed as the V for Vendetta artist during the same general period, takes a dynamically different illustrative tack with this jarring suicide scene from a Del Close-John Ostrander story about humanoid robots. The money shot (Panel 5) contains an additional jolt that becomes apparent as soon as Lloyd's propulsive inking has drawn the eye to the far right. Editor Mike Gold's experimental Wasteland series was far ahead of its time for a still-conservative DC Comics, and as such a precursor of DC's more audacious Piranha and Vertigo imprints of the later 1980s-1990s. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with a large-scale image area of 12" x 17". Excellent condition.
