Description

Harvey Kurtzman and Bill (Will) Elder Help! #12 "The Adventures of Goodman Beaver, Chapter II: Goodman Meets T*rz*n" Story Pages 2-4 Original Art Group of 2 (1961). In this unauthorized riff on the King of the Jungle, T*rz*n (if this were Wheel of Fortune, we'd suggest buying an "A" to solve this puzzle) is a bit upset with the jungle animals for not coming to his and Jane's aid. With Jane's head twisted completely backwards, something wildly violent clearly went down -- so, it's a fair question. Meanwhile, two strangers have joined the party: Tarshanov and Tanya of the Russian People's Foreign Service, who've brought communism to the jungle. The pair are apparently the reason Tarza... we mean, T*rz*n (please don't sue us!)... received no animal assistance. Ink over graphite on two pieces of Doubletone board mounted to illustration board. Pages 2-3 are rendered "double-page spread" style across one long piece of board, with an image area of 14.75" x 8.5". Page 4 measures 7.25" x 8.5". Both pages feature stripped-in art and are somewhat pieced together, but all artwork is original and the composition is complete. Slight toning, two missing paste-ups, text/art paste-ups, whiteout, and light handling wear. In Very Good condition.
From the Personal Collection of Bill Elder. Certificate of Authenticity from Heritage Auctions.
