Description

Tom Palmer X-Men Fleer Ultra #16 Professor X Trading Card Illustration Original Art (Fleer/Skybox, 1994). The leader of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier, sits in his iconic yellow hoverchair and studies Magneto in this painting, which was rendered by Tom Palmer for the first series of painted trading cards for the mighty mutant team. After the unprecedented success of Joe Jusko's Marvel Masterpieces in 1992, painted trading cards became the new standard for Marvel memorabilia. Mixed media on paper affixed to heavy board with an image area of 8.5" x 11.25". The paper once adhered to the board itself, but it is now separated, and the art has tape on each corner to connect the art to the board. The tape in the bottom left corner is detached, and notes are written in the bottom margin. There are two overlays affixed to the top of the board with tape; one is an acetate overlay with a piece of masking tape with written notes near the bottom, and the other is a paper overlay protecting the art. In Excellent condition.
From The Tom Palmer Collection.
