Description

Richard F. Outcault Buster Brown Sunday Comic Strip Original Art (American-Journal Examiner, c. 1914). Buster and Mary Jane get some good panel-time, and we even get a lovely panel of Mrs. Brown; however, it's Tige the talking dog who steals the show this time! A great Sunday with a real heartfelt message in that last panel, it was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.5" x 22.75". Dated only as "Sept 27" in the lower margin, it is most likely from 1914. There are pinholes in the image area in several panels. As was the process of the time, characters, items, and settings were hand-painted with watercolor only the first time they appeared in that particular Sunday, as a reference for the printer to use. Toned and in Very Good condition.
