Description

Howard Chaykin and Klaus Janson Marvel Premiere #33 Solomon Kane Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1976). Robert E. Howard's Puritan swordsman has likely never looked better than at the hand of Howard Chaykin on his first cover and first comic book appearance! A great looking cover image rendered in ink over graphite on World Color cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The "Mark of Kane" logo is an original stat paste-up. After the fact, someone has created low-res replacement paste-up recreations of the corner box, price/issue, header banner, "Marvel Premiere featuring" logo, the word balloon, and the two cover captions, and affixed them directly to the board. There is sticky glue residue on the date/issue number from the paste-up, and there is some amateur whiteout and black-fill added around the logo and header paste-ups. Also, the flames in the background appear to be added by unknown hands after the fact. There is glue residue across most of the cover, indicating that there was likely a stat of the original art used to move the image up on the board for the published piece. In Good condition. Comes with a copy of the printed comic.
