Bill Watterson Calvin and Hobbes Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-8-90 (United Press Syndicate, 1990). You will want to pounce on this original artwork -- because Watterson's original art for Calvin & Hobbes is about as rare as a talking tiger! This daily was published on 12-8-90, and was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board. Personalized to Sven Berlin and signed just under the 12" x 3.75" image area. The board is toned with frame-burn from a previous framing.If you are not familiar with the name Sven Berlin, he was the director of Europa Press who was instrumental in bringing Watterson's strip to Scandinavia, which is why the artist sent him this original Calvin and Hobbes as a token of thanks. This lot also includes an original art piece by Norwegian illustrator Arild Midthun. It features Sven Berlin surrounded by many famous comic strip characters that he help bring to Scandinavia when he was the director of Europa Press. Included are characters from B.C., Broom Hilda, Mother Goose and Grimm, Shoe, Cathy, Ziggy, and Doonesbury. This piece was presented to Mr. Berlin in 1998 by the Norwegian editors. Created in mixed media on Bristol board. Signed and dated 1998 in the lower right of the 10" x 13.5" image area.
Both pieces are toned and in Very Good condition.
