Description

Lady and the Tramp Lady Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1955). "Good gracious. What are you doing here?" On display in this lot is an amazing production rough featuring the enchanting Springer Spaniel, Lady. In traditional animation, these first drawings are called "rough animation" or "roughs" for short since they're often done in a very loose style. This step serves as a testing ground to lock in timing for movement, establish position, style, and nail the composition of the camera. Rendered in loose graphite and red color pencil, this 16 field 3-peg hole animation drawing is marked as keyframe 51, noted by the circle around the number, on the bottom right corner. Lady measures approximately 4.5" x 3.5" and vaguely resembles Lady as seen at about 32:20 timestamp of the film, when the cat-loving babysitter Aunt Sara kicks her out of the nursery. With slight differences in her face and tail. The drawing shows mild studio handling and edge wear, age-related toning, light surface debris, and a creased upper right corner. Overall, in Very Good condition.
