Description

Batman on Gargoyle Limited Edition 3128/5555 Porcelain Statue (DC Direct, 1991). The first Randy Bowen superhero statue, this porcelain "Batman on Gargoyle" statue, sculpted by Bowen, was released way back in 1991, before superhero statues were commonplace in the collectors' market. There is a very small amount of paint loss on the tips of the ears and on the very bottom point of the cape, otherwise in Excellent condition. The piece is delicate, and finding one in this condition is uncommon. Statues that have come to market have fetched prices as high as $1,500. Auctioned on behalf of Tadano America Corporation.

More Information:

The Dark Knight crouches atop an ominous gargoyle and Bowen has blended several artists' styles into the figure, with the lanky body and long-ears of a Kelley Jones rendering, and a Todd McFarlane-like cape, which almost completely covers the body. The moody pose is a favorite with collectors and consequently this limited edition figure (#3128/5555) rarely comes to auction.
