Description

Black Mask #36 February 15, 1923 (Pro-Distribution) Condition: GD/VG. This issue features a skull cover and the story "Creeping Death" by W. H. Holmes, released a decade prior to the classic Shadow story of the same name. Bookery's notes issues from this era as "especially scarce" and we certainly agree. We've seen only five earlier issues of Black Mask (and each of those only once), and cannot find any examples of this issue anywhere online!
Black Mask is the most elusive of any long-running pulp title and this issue is surely missing from even legendary pulp collections. This copy has large spine splits to the front cover. Bookery's Guide to Pulps Second Edition 2020 GD 2.0 value = $65; VG 4.0 value = $200.
