Description

Dave Stevens The Rocketeer Special Edition #1 Story Page 10 Original Art (Eclipse, 1984). Stevens' creation, The Rocketeer, stands out for its richly detailed illustrations, with lush linework and remarkable technical prowess adding to the comic's "pulp fiction" charm. The talented artist's uncompromising attention to detailed and purposeful work ethic led to a limited amount of panel pages produced by Stevens, especially ones featuring his beloved character in costume, as we have here. The helmeted hero takes the cockpit of The Locust from Nazi spies that stole the experimental plane, and now the aircraft is out of control! This page is continued from Pacific Presents #2 (Pacific Comics, 1982), in the issue originally planned as Pacific Presents #5. Ink and screentone over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, text paste-up correction, adhesive residue along the top edge, with soft corner and light edge/handling wear. Personalized by Stevens in the bottom margin and in Excellent condition.
