Description
Keith Pollard and Joe Rubinstein Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #20 Wrap-Around Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1988). Book of the Dead, Part 5. "Stick to Zuras". This incredible follow-up series in the encyclopedic listing of Marvel Comics characters had some equally incredible covers. Each issue sported a wrap-around cover that connected to the previous and following issues to form one giant image of their characters. As such, you could line up all five of the "Book of the Dead" issues to see a full graveyard scene. There are 20 deceased characters (not counting the swarm of Vampires in bat-form) on this piece... including: the original Human Torch, Thanos, Union Jack, Thunderbird, and Adam Warlock! Produced in ink over graphite on two pieces of conjoined Bristol board with an image area of 19.5" x 15".Note: the far left section (the Ringer, Porcupine, and Gwen Stacy) is a stat from the previous cover so they will join seamlessly. The rest of the back cover is original art. The logo, corner box, and UPC box on the front cover are stats on a clear acetate overlay that can be lifted. The cover pages are tanned (most notably down the center joint), and there is handling wear. The back cover has a spot of paste-up glue reside, and the art section hidden by the UPC box is a taped in original art correction on Tom Thumb's face.
Overall this is in Very Good condition and with Thanos (and Adam Warlock most likely) appearing in Marvel movies soon, this could be a great addition to your art collection!
