Description

Leslie Cabarga Lean Years Complete 1-page Story "With Plenty of Money and You" Original Art (Cartoonist's Co-Op, 1974). Al Dubin and Harry Warren's snappy Depression-era tune (a hit for Count Basie, Tony Bennett, and others) is transformed into a nifty one-pager by cartoonist, lettering font designer, and book author Leslie Cabarga. Cabarga always had a way with 1930s style, and he really goes to town on this one! Using the song's lyrics as a narrative, each panel shows our happy but cash-poor couple as they dream about the things a "little filthy lucre buys." The art is in ink and white-out, with one art element (the old car in panel seven) pasted in from a newspaper clipping. The image area measures approximately 12" x 18", and the page (which is made up of two halves taped from behind) is in Very Good condition. From the Albert Morse Collection.
