Description

Jim Osborne Vultura Illustration Original Art (1971). Many Underground Comix artists of the 1960s began reading comics in the pre-Code days when horror comics ruled the racks. Here, Jim Osborne adds a fetish twist to horror for a true over-the-top counterculture masterpiece. This piece was featured on page 104 of Underground Classics by James Danky and Denis Kitchen (Harry N. Abrams, 2009). Osborne was one of many Texas born native Underground artists who moved to San Francisco to ply their craft. He contributed to many titles, including Bijou Funnies, Arcade, Insect Fear, Felch, and Sleazy Scandals of the Silver Screen. This S&M, B&D, necrophiliac horrorscape was created in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 14" x 21". His name is an original art paste-up. The board is lightly toned, with some handling wear, otherwise, in Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
