Description

Johnny Craig Vault of Horror #28 Zombie Cover Original Art (EC, 1952). Okay, here's the setup -- a sugar plantation owner's fiancée meets him in Haiti where they marry, then she gets sick -- and dies. Being Haiti, naturally some voodoo acts take place and the dead bride returns, this time as a zombie. And soon, she begins to decompose... yow! A sticky situation, indeed! It's a wild image from the glory days of EC Comics, where "anything goes" seemed to be their modus operandi (at least before the dreaded Comics Code Authority gained control of the industry). The spooky art is in ink over graphite on Entertaining Comics Bristol board, with an image area of 13.5" x 12.25" (art alone), and 13.5" x 19.25" for the entire cover, including all the original type and logo stats. The three EC Horror Hosts along the left side are also original production stats. Other than a very slight amount of handling wear along the outer edges, the page is in Excellent condition. With seemingly the entire world crazy about all things Zombie related these days, expect some serious interest in this piece!
