Description

Harvey Kurtzman, Will Elder, and Russ Heath Playboy "Little Annie Fanny" Unpublished Complete 4-Page Story Original Art (HMH, 1980s). This four-pager features "Playboy Self-Parody" with a caricature of Hef himself! In addition, there are a wide range of cameo appearances... and not just political and entertainment industry types! Starting on Page 2 of the story, we see famous comic strip characters such as: Dick Tracy, Jiggs, Henry, Snuffy Smith, Beetle Bailey, Alley Oop, Dagwood Bumstead, Fred Flintstone, Smokey Stover, Hans and Fritz (the Katzenjammer Kids), Superman, Tarzan, and Popeye. Page 3 shows us Alice the Goon, Hairless Joe, Mandrake the Magician and Lothar, the Little King, Mammy Yokum, Charlie Brown, Lucy Van Pelt, and Snoopy, and the cast of critters from Pogo.
The pages were stunningly created in ink over watercolor (for the comic strip characters) and rich, lush color work of oil paint, tempera, and watercolor washes over ink on illustration board with an image area of 14" x 20". Some text and some of the comic strip figures are original paste-ups on the illustration board. Toned and in Very Good condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
