Description

Oliver and Company Francis, and Einstein Production Cel Setup (Walt Disney, 1988). "Why me? Today of all days." The street dog duo of Francis and Einstein get ready to con in this two-layered cel setup from Walt Disney studios creative adaptation of the classic tale Oliver Twist. The Bulldog and Great Dane's cels happen mere moments apart in the same sequence seen near the 30:38 timestamp when Einstein, dazed from running into a limousine, gets out of the way so Francis can take center stage as the wounded pitiful puppy-dog. This is a charming moment for the two side-characters that sets up the fateful meeting between Oliver and Jenny when the groups plan to con Jenny and Winston, Jenny's caretaker, goes awry. The hand-inked and hand-painted size of the two street dogs is 3.25" x 3.25" for Francis and 5.5" x 5" for Einstein on the 16 field cel. The cel is laminated and bears a Walt Disney Company stamp in the bottom right corner. Presented in a mat display sized at 20" x 16" with a viewing window of 14" x 10" on a print background, beneath the mat display the cels are labeled F41 and E11 in the bottom right corners. The setup shows minor production handling and edgewear, light paint debris, and small spots of paint separation on Einstein's shoulder and hip. In Very Good condition overall.
