Description

Detective Comics #36 (DC, 1940) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Cream pages. We hadn't offered a blue-label copy of this book since we sold the Davis Crippen "D" copies some six years ago. This early Batman appearance also has the origin and first appearance of Doctor Hugo Strange, whom Overstreet calls Batman's first major villain. Followers of Bat-firsts will be interested to note that in the story itself, Batman dons his distinctive finned gloves for the first time. CGC notes, "Tape along entire spine. Tape on 1st wrap." Overstreet 2011 GD 2.0 value = $1,200; VG 4.0 value = $2,400. CGC census 2/12: 2 in 3.0, 11 higher.
