Description

Irv Novick Pep Comics #17 Cover Original Art (Archie Comics, 1941). "Here he is fellows, the Hangman!" With those words the Shield and Dusty introduced the Hangman in his first appearance on this very cover. Don't forget that Golden Age cover art is extremely rare! Bob Dickering, the Hangman, was the brother of John Dickering, the Comet. This Novick cover was rendered in ink and watercolor on 11.75" x 12" Bristol board. Personalized and signed in the lower right. There is a 2" rip in the top left and a 1" rip in the lower margin. There is a crease running through the center, and more in the lower portion. The watercolor has gotten wet around the Shield's eyes. In Good condition.
