Description

Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers Journey into Mystery #89 Story Page 3 Thor Origin Recap Original Art (Marvel, 1963). Marvel's uniquely crowd-pleasing formula of mingling super-heroics with soap opera is crystallized in this fine page from the definitive Marvel team -- Kirby, rendered especially vivid by Ayers' supple inking. The upper tiers recap the origin of the Mighty Thor (as first related in Journey into Mystery #83), while the lower tier emphasizes the romantic tensions between Thor's mild-mannered alter ego, Dr. Don Blake, and Nurse Jane Foster. As Stan Lee once told us: "Rex Morgan, M.D., was never like this!" Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Kirby autographed at the lower right. The image area measures 12.5" x 18.75". In Excellent condition.
