Pep Comics #25 (MLJ, 1942) CGC VF+ 8.5 Cream to off-white pages. This very early Archie story (which hit the newsstands less than a year before Archie Comics #1) features the first appearance of Archie's jalopy. The Shield and Hangman cover is by Irv Novick, and the art inside is by Novick, Bob Montana, and Paul Reinman. This is the highest-graded copy we've ever seen, and only one other copy has received a higher grade from CGC to date. Overstreet 2017 VF 8.0 value = $3,350; VF/NM 9.0 value = $5,925. CGC census 2/18: 1 in 8.5, 1 higher. From the Steve Barghusen Collection.
