Description

Jim Aparo and Mike DeCarlo Batman #427 Complete 22-Page Story "A Death in the Family! Chapter 4" Original Art (DC, 1988). These pages contain the dramatic moments of Chapter 4 where Jason Todd lands at the mercy of Joker, who takes him captive in a warehouse with a timed-bomb set to explode. Before this can happen, Jason sees his mom working with the Joker, and reveals to her that he is Robin. In turn, Jason is captured and brutally beaten with a crowbar by Joker. The storyline was infamous for having its readers vote on whether Jason Todd (Robin) would live or die, and the 80 number to call and decide would be published in this issue. The Caped Crusader would find Robin's lifeless body in the next issue, sending shockwaves throughout the fandom.
Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas of 10" x 15". There are whiteout and paste-up text corrections, edge and handling wear, trimmed top borders, image stat paste-ups on Pages 24, 30, and 41-43, light toning, and soft handling wear. Averaged in Very Good condition.
