Mulan Shan Yu and Hun Army Layout Drawing by Pres Romanillos (Walt Disney, 1998). Shan Yu's devastating attack on Shang's troops is even more fearsome in this rare, incredibly detailed layout drawing by Pres Romanillos (1963 - 2010). Romanillos began working in the industry as an animation trainee on The Little Mermaid before he became an assistant animator on The Rescuers Down Under and Beauty and the Beast, an animator on Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Princess and the Frog, and supervising animator for Shan Yu, Falcon, and the Elite Huns in Mulan. This enormous 16 field 3-peghole animation drawing captures the moment Shan Yu charges the army at about 55:01 in the film. The page has been signed by Romanillos and noted as "The Hun Charge" with a hand-written Walt Disney copyright in the lower left. The drawing takes up nearly the entire page at about 17'' x 10.75''.
