Description
June Foray's ASIFA, Emmy, and Academy Award Memorabilia Group of 13 (c. 1970s-2010s). Animation legend June Foray's long career in Entertainment brought her many awards and accolades; those, and her involvement in ASIFA, are the points of interest in this group of items from June's personal collection. We'll start out with an unusual pinback badge, or "button" urging the boycott of a popular wine maker with the slogan "Nixon Drinks Ripple." In 1973, June was an organizer of a meat boycott in response to President Nixon's freezing of meat and other prices, giving her the "distinction" of landing of Nixon's infamous Enemies List. The green button measures 1.5" across. There are four ribbons - a 1991 Western Heritage Day "Burbank on Parade" ribbon and 2.5" badge plus three ribbons from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Student Academy Award, one Governor and two Executive Committee (one is hand-dated 2008), and there's also a folded 2002 Board of Governors Dinner invitation card, with the name of actor Walter Edmiston written inside. A rare mid-1970s San Diego Comic Convention "Friend of Fandom" citation with a Jack Kirby image print is included, measuring 14" x 11" on parchment-style paper. There's a 1985 Certificate of Appreciation presented to June by the Motion Pictures Screen Cartoonists Local 839, measuring 11" x 8.9". June was a founding member of ASIFA-Hollywood, an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of animation; includes is one of the winning envelopes of ASIFA's annual Annie Awards (June won in 1996 and 1997 for voicing Granny in Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries). There's a small (2.25" x 1.5") typed name tag with "June Foray / Governor." In 2012, June won an Emmy for her work on The Garfield Show and there are two color 6" x 4" color prints of June at home with her award, and one of June with Sybil Freleng, daughter of Friz. Finally, there's a blank "ASIFA Hollywood Thanks for your help with" paper sign, printed black on orange textured 12" x 10" sign. These rare items range from Good to Fine, with most in Very Good condition with minor handling wear. From the June Foray Archives.
