Bill Plympton The Simpsons Couch Gag "The Rug" Animation Drawing Group of 3 (Fox, 2022). This trio of original sketches by Bill Plympton for The Simpsons couch gag titled "The Rug" from the Season 34 episode "One Angry Lisa" exemplifies the unique blend of surrealism and animation artistry. These sketches, integral to the 2022 episode's opening, highlight Plympton's distinctive style that has made him a favorite in the animation world. As the creator of eight Simpsons couch gags, more than any other guest director, Plympton's contributions are both significant and memorable. Each of the three drawings, used in the making of this surreal opening sketch, is masterfully rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field animation paper. Plympton's signature in graphite on each drawing adds a personal and authentic touch.
