Description

Mickey's Grand Opera Conductor Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1937). "Pluto! Go home!" Despite being shooed away earlier by Mickey, playful Pluto interrupts the show by chasing Hoodunit the Magician's runaway top hat across the stage! Here's a sequence of three original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings of Mickey the conductor from this scene, which begins at the 5:28 mark in this Wilfred Jackson-directed short, which co-starred Donald Duck and Clara Cluck as opera singers... wait, Donald Duck as an opera singer? The cartoon debuted in theaters on 3/7/1937. In the first drawing, noted as 295 in the lower right corner, Mickey happily conducts the orchestra, with an approximate image size of 3.25" x 3". In drawing 299, Mickey has spotted his pooch onstage, with a great shocked "stretched" image that measures 3.5" x 3.5". Our main mouse is now mad in the third drawing, noted as 309, with an image size of 3" x 3". All three are drawn in graphite with a red pencil guide line. Condition is Very Good with minor handing and edge wear, and light age-related paper toning.
