Description

David Wright - Model with Beagle on Sofa Illustration Original Art (c. 1960). An utterly charming domestic scene, this illustration likely depicts Wright's wife and favorite muse, Esme, relaxing on the sofa while Rosie, the family beagle, settles in like she owns the place. Esme was far more than a convenient model; she was the face behind many of David Wright's iconic "lovelies" over the years, and this intimate glimpse of the artist's home life appears on page 163 of Terry Parker's Sirens: The Pin-Up Art of David Wright (2013). Created in gouache over graphite on art paper with an image area of 11.5" x 9.5". Glue residue in the margins, creasing, minor edge tear, and moderate handling wear. Signed by Wright in the lower left image area. In Very Good condition.
