Special Edition #1 Page 45 Original Art (Marvel,
1987). From the first appearance of the group Excalibur, this
is the very page where they are about to resolve to become a
team! This one-shot issue was a hit, and #1 of the regular series
came about half a year later, starting off a series that would run
for a decade. Excalibur's original creative team, writer Chris
Claremont and artist/co-writer Alan Davis, incorporated elements of
two Marvel hottest properties, the X-Men and Captain Britain. In
the Scottish Highlands, the group gathers around a crackling
campfire, telling stories of past battles and memories. As the
group talks, they realize that Professor X's dream should not be
abandoned even though the X-Men are gone. They all decide that it
is their duty to take up their swords, like King Arthur drew
Excalibur, and become a team. Huge and iconic, this page is in ink
on official board with an image area of 11.5" x 17". In Excellent

De la toute première apparition d'Excalibur en tant que team, cette planche marque le moment clé où ils décident de devenir une équipe ! Ce numéro one-shot fut un hit direct, et le numéro #1 de la série régulière qui allait suivre 6 mois plus tard, démarrant une série qui allait durer une décennie. L'équipe créative originale d'Excalibur, le scénariste Chris Claremont et l'artiste/co-scénariste Alan Davis, allait incorporer les ingrédients de deux des séries les plus en vogue de Marvel, les X-Men et Captain Britain. De retour dans les Highlands écossais, le groupe se rassemble autour d'un feu de camp et raconte de vieilles histoires de batailles et de souvenirs passés.
