Description
Walt Disney Studios - Pegleg Pete Animation Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1927). Pegleg Pete was the first Disney villain; this 1927 model sheet is from Disney's first Mickey Mouse film "Steamboat Willy," which was released in 1928. Pegleg Pete is the unethical villain in this film. This was before the time of individual Disney personalities, and the image presented simply showed a villain big and tough. At that time Pegleg Pete was known only as Captain. He went on to haunt Mickey and Donald for decades. He would be known as Captain, Pegleg Pete, Black Pete and the politically correct Pete. He starred in the first Donald Duck comic book by Carl Barks and Jack Hannah titled Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold (Four Color #9) from 1942. These 3 drawings of the first Pegleg Pete are on full size animation paper measuring approximately 12" by 8.5". Pegleg Pete on the left of the model sheet measures 7.25" high; the Pete on the right measures 6.5" high. The bust of Pete in the middle measures 3" high. The art is in Excellent condition.Auction Info
