Description

Truant Officer Donald Donald Duck Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1941). "Well where in the name of..." Lawman Donald seems shocked when his nephews don't appear from the smoky clubhouse in this original animation drawing from his theatrical short Truant Officer Donald. Directed by Jack King (1895 - 1958) and released on August 1, 1941, this film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Subject. It featured Donald acting as the long arm of the educational law, stopping nothing to ensure his nephews attend school. This frame can be spotted near the 5:13 mark of the short when viewed online after he tries to smoke Huey, Dewy, and Louie out of their pirate clubhouse. Presented in a terrific full-figure, Officer Donald has been rendered in graphite with colored pencil to a character size of 5" x 5". The 5 peghole 12 field animation sheet bears animator's notes and a faint ambiguous sketch near the right edge, with the sequence number 34 and an undetermined animator's initials in the lower corner. With typical studio handling and edge wear including light age-related toning, superficial surface wrinkles, and areas of faint smudging, overall this self-deputized duck is in Very Good condition.
