Description

Virgil Ross - Rabbit of Seville Signed Bugs Bunny Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990). "Welcome to my shop, let me cut your mop, let me shave your crop!" trills Bugs Bunny in this iconic scene. In his flight from Elmer Fudd, Bugs has found himself thrust into the star role of a musical performance of The Barber of Seville! The clever rabbit uses this opportunity to tease Elmer Fudd, who is also inadvertently caught in the limelight. In this drawing, Bugs Bunny wears a barber costume and a smug expression as he brandishes a razor in a moment which can be seen at the 0:55 mark of the short. This colossal drawing of the rabbit measures more than 11" tall! The drawing is signed by the artist, Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996), one of the most influential animators of Bugs Bunny in the rabbit's early days. The piece is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on paper. The drawing has been framed with plexiglass and matted, with a matboard aperture of 9.5" x 12". The condition of this spectacular piece is Fine, with only minor handling, and the frame is sold as-is.
