Description
Al Capp Li'l Abner Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-25-45 (United Feature Syndicate, 1945). Al Capp breaks the fourth wall with this Christmas Day daily to deliver his personal holiday greetings! Complete with a self-caricature of Capp being sassed by Ma Abner, this daily - humorously titled "I Save So Much Postage This Way!!!" - features Capp wishing a Merry Christmas to dozens of his friends and family, including fellow cartoonists Milton Caniff, Raeburn Van Buren, Ernie Bushmiller, and Chester Gould, as well as Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, and many more. (Our personal favorite call-out? "The chef who home-fries the home-fried potatoes at Toots Shor's!") Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22.25" x 6.75". Light toning, with whiteout corrections, small stains, and some paper abrasion, along with smudging and edge/handling wear. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
