Description

The Wayward Canary Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1932). Looking a little worse for wear after crashing into Minnie's greenhouse, Mickey Mouse crowned with a broken flower pot makes a combative appearance in this original animation drawing from the 1932 Burt Gillett-directed short The Wayward Canary. This humorous, early theatrical short features Mickey attempting to gift a pet canary to Minnie, but things go awry when the tiny bird and her unanticipated brood escape their cage into Minnie's house. This moment can be spotted near the 5:54 mark of the short just after Mickey crashes through a kitchen window into the garden greenhouse, finally leaving a path of escape to the outdoors for the tiny, troublesome bird. Full-figured with flower pots in place of shoes, Mickey stands at 3.75" x 4" rendered in graphite on 2-peghole 12 field animation paper which bears the sequence number 4 in the lower right corner. With typical studio handling and wear including age-related toning and faint edge wear, overall this battle-ready drawing is in Very Good condition.
