Description

Tugboat Mickey Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "Oh my gosh! A shipwreck! Ahoy! All hands on deck!" Dressed in a pea coat and peaked captain's hat (and featuring his new, updated character design), Mickey sounds the alarm - the steamship 'Gigantic' has run aground! Mickey is the captain of a tugboat, and Goofy and Donald make up what might be the most inept pair of crewmen in maritime history. The short was released on April 26, 1940 and was directed by Clyde Geronimi. This is a beautiful full-body drawing of Mickey that can be seen at the 2:18 point in the film. With a worried look on his face, he stands on the ship's railing and rings the alarm bell furiously. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil, the drawing includes effects animation ("motion-blur" on the bell clapper) and notes for the Ink & Paint Department. Image area measures roughly 4.5" x 6.5" on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. It's in an 18" x 16" frame under Plexiglas with a mat window of 12" x 9.5". Very light handling/creasing (image unaffected). In Fine condition. Frame is sold as-is.
